For Allie & Nick’s big day, Allie’s mom knew just who to call: Bold’s premier designer, Steve Bales, who had designed a stunning head table for Allie’s older sister’s own nuptials years prior. Steve’s design prowess guaranteed that the couple’s Atlanta Athletic Club wedding would be an elegant, epic affair with all the “wow” factor.
The ceremony was held at the Club’s 1898 House Pavilion, recently upgraded with heating & AC and completely enclosed with glass panels. Now, it can be open-air in spring months or closed during the cold months, like for this wedding! Steve installed flowing greenery hanging from the ceiling and a stately floral-adorned cross as backdrop for the couple’s vows, simple elements that showcased space’s natural light.
At the reception, the head table was one for the ages! A dramatic, lush floral table runner of white flowers (including hydrangea, polar roses, tulips, veronica & anemones) and foliage (lambs ear, dusty miller, eucalyptus & magnolia leaves) filled the center of the table and fell to the floor on each end. Crystal and glass candelabras, gold beaded glass chargers at place settings and sequin-covered seating added glitz and glamour. The bride and groom sat at the head of the table in comfort and style on a tufted setee accented with gold and white throw pillows.
The “wow” factor continued onto the dance floor: Around the Club’s chandelier, we hung an extra crystal beaded curtain for twice the sparkle. We added white roses to the bottom of the beaded curtain for a fairy-tale effect, creating the perfect setting for the newly-married Thompsons’ first dance through the night’s hours of joyful celebration.
