When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down Georgia in mid-March 2020, the team at Bold stepped up to put our catering and logistics expertise to use by preparing and delivering over 20,000 meals to healthcare workers and first responders leading the fight against the pandemic.

We joined the Feed the Frontline Fund, an initiative put together by the Emory Foundation to deliver meals to the heroes in our emergency departments, critical care units, ICUs, and COVID units at Atlanta-area hospitals including Grady Health System and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We also partnered with the Atlanta Police Department, to feed the officers keeping our city safe, as well as Meals on Wheels Atlanta, to deliver meals to housebound seniors struggling with increased isolation.

For our team members, the connection went beyond a strong civic duty. Employees from across the Bold Catering & Design + Fifth Group Restaurants family met up at King Plow daily to box up lunches while restaurants and events were shut down. For Executive Chef Robert Mitchell, whose sister is a nurse, delivering food to hospital employees made him feel more connected to and supportive of his family. Lee Miller, our  Director of Operations, was motivated by his dad, a former police lieutenant and hostage negotiator – and a reminder that  the essential employees who are putting their health and well-being on the lines are someone’s father, partner and friend.

Leading and serving our community has been one of our core values since we began catering the city’s best and brightest events in 1996. As Atlanta adapts to the post-COVID world of hospitality, we’ll continue to get creative with giving back, utilizing our resources and our teams to feed people and create moments of joy, no matter what we’re up against.
